US, Taiwan on high alert due to China’s missile stockpile
The United States and Taiwan are amping up alert status in the South China Sea, thanks to the Chinese Communist Party’s love of cruise missiles.
Citing the Department of Defense’s 2019 China Military Power Evaluation Report, authorities report that the CCP’s political military arm, the People’s Liberation Army, has more than 2,700 ballistic and cruise missiles.
The majority of the missiles fall under the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Rocket Force
In response, the US government is looking to bolster missile defense systems both on friendly shorelines and within their own fleets.
According to Taiwan News, the Taiwanese military has also begun testing Patriot and Sky Bow missiles this year to verify its anti-missile capabilities.
While the majority of short and medium-range missiles are aimed at Taiwan, the ICBMs in the PLA arsenal are mostly aimed at the USA.
