Now-Former President Donald J. Trump and his administration gave the Chinese Communist Party one last parting blow before leaving office- officially referring to their treatment of Muslim minorities as “genocide” and “crimes against humanity.”

Referencing the forced mass-internment, forced labor and involuntary sterilization of over 1 million Muslim minorities in the Xinjiang province, the United States is now the first nation to adopt the stance against the CCP’s actions with such wordage.

“After careful examination of the available facts, I have determined that since at least March 2017, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), under the direction and control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), has committed crimes against humanity against the predominantly Muslim Uyghurs and other members of ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang,”said now-Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a statement yesterday.

According to Axios, the UK’s Foreign Minister, Dominic Raab, denounced China’s “barbarism” in Xinjiang and announced heavy fines for companies that don’t prove their supply chains are not using slave labor.

Meanwhile, the CCP has predictably been pressuring allies and trade partners to avoid criticizing the Chinese government, and has claimed their methods are necessary to stop Islamic extremism in China.

Having sworn-in on Wednesday afternoon, it is unknown if President Joe Biden will follow the same line of thought as the Trump Administration.
