We recently published photos depicting a U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter intercepting an Iranian military P-3F patrol plane as the Iranian P-3 buzzed the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf, probably in the summer of 2012.

Now, thanks to some alert readers, we can show you photos apparently taken from Abraham Lincoln during the same, or similar, incident. The snapshots show a 1970s-vintage Iranian P-3, in its distinctive color scheme, flying low and close to the American flattop. The F/A-18 is not visible.
