Check Out This Exquisite Art From ‘The Forever War’ Graphic Novel
Titan Comics has republished the 1988 comics adaptation of Joe Haldeman's classic science fiction
It’s too neat and tidy to say combat causes post-traumatic stress. There is something to be said for the alienation which ex-soldiers experience in an atomized, individualistic society after leaving a tightly-knit group of warriors — who share deep bonds and loyalties between them borne from shared experiences. Civilian life is decidedly lacking in this area.
This, more than far-flung technology, is what Joe Haldeman’s 1974 scifi novel The Forever War is about.
Belgian artist Marvano adapted the book as a graphic novel in 1988. And now Titan Comics has republished the comic. War Is Boring is pleased to present an exclusive excerpt. You can purchase the graphic novel here.
