This week’s photos features Marines staying on alert out on the Pacific, some aerial aerobics from an ally, and a grueling walk out in space.
On the USS Green Bay, a Marine Battalion Landing Team test fires an M240B medium machine gun. The Battalion is part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unity, which is the Crops’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU. Operations are currently set up in the Indo-Pacific region.
A close up of Sgt. Joseph Torres as he puts in work during the Total Force Fitness event in New Orleans. Sgt. Torres is part of the Marine Forces Reserve. A number of Marines are putting their strength to the test as they go through physically exhausting exercises.
The Royal Malaysian Air Force performed some aerial aerobics during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, held in Padang Matsirat. In all 12 countries were present for the international event.
An award given too late in Washington, D.C. President Trump awarded Staff Sgt. Travis Atkins for his bravery with Delta Company in Iraq. Staff Sgt. Atkins was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and killed while trying to subdue a suicide bomber. He shielded three other soldiers while sacrificing his own life. His family accepted the award.
In space, astronaut Nick Hague performed a grueling 6-and-a-half hour spacewalk outside the International Space Station. Hague was working on upgrading the orbital complex’s power storage capacity.
